It was a very sad day for me when he passed away.  Other performers that have touched me in one way or another over the years are far too numerous to mention, but honourable mentions must be made to…Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Louis Armstrong, Mel Torme, Ella Fitzgerald, Dexter Gordon, Michael Buble, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Elton John… And then there are the great powerhouse jazz-based rock bands from the seventies which had a massive influence on a generation or two of players, including me:  Tower of Power, early Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, Steely Dan…
